2022 Pan American Kayak Bass Championship Mexico Lake Cuchillo

The USA Kayak Fishing traveled to Mexico’s famed Lake Cuchillo for the 2022 Pan American Kayak Championship on December 1-3, 2022. The team competed against the best kayak fishing anglers from Mexico and Costa Rica for official medals from the Pan American Sportfishing Federation. Lake Cuchillo proved a challenge for the nine anglers representing the USA. It can down to excellent teamwork and execution as USA Kayak Fishing pulled away from the competition on the last day.

“USAngling is very excited about the direction of USA Kayak Fishing.” Says USAngling President Tony Forte. “USA Kayak Fishing President Craig Storms assembled an incredibly talented team to make the trip to Mexico. They were able to overcome Mexico’s home lake advantage which is very difficult in international fishing. They also displayed amazing sportsmanship towards the other competitors which is our primary goal for USA Kayak Fishing.”

The USA Kayak Fishing Team: Cody Milton, Eric Siddiqi, Guillermo Gonzalez, Jamie Broad, Mike Elsea, Kristine Fischer, Rus Snyders, Josh Stewart and Matthew Scotch. These accomplished anglers brought home the “Nations” Gold Medal with 571.25” over the two day competition. Mexico followed with 457.25” and Costa Rica 47.25”.

 USA Kayak Fishing also brought home the individual honors for the competition with Guillermo Gonzalez taking the Gold, Matthew Scotch the Silver and Josh Stewart the Bronze. USA Kayak Fishing thanks their sponsors Visit Cookeville, Dakota Lithium, Lowrance and Fishing Chaos for their support. 

The USA Kayak Fishing Team competes in the FIPSed Kayak World Championships and Pan American Kayak Championships. The USA Kayak Fishing Team is made up of men and women kayak anglers chosen from pro tour winners and previous championship winners.
